Coming Soon: The Battery Index

Our team is currently building The Battery Index: a database that will assess the safety of large-scale lead-acid battery recycling plants in low-resource settings globally, starting in Nigeria and Ghana. The assessment is being executed in partnership with national government agencies, technical partners, and national non-profit organizations to ensure rigor, community engagement, and buy-in from implementers.

The Battery Index will be invaluable to those who have a stake in preventing lead poisoning caused by ULAB recycling:

• National & local social services organizations
